The Quest Part 1: Can Steve Sanders Replace Vincent, the He/She Serial Killer?

So, in an attempt to fill the void (see the sidebar), I am vetting afternoon guilty pleasures.

Today's candidate: First Season 90210

Pros:

  • Twice a day
  • Awesome Brenda nonsense
  • Tori Spelling pre-Lifetime
  • Joe E Tata. Just say it. It will make you happy.
  • Amazingly Awful.
  • David (AKA DJ MC Cracker) isn't rapping too much in the first season.
Cons:
  • Seriously, this show is AWFUL.
  • The realization that the parents on the show look REALLY young. Which means I must be getting old.
  • Not enough Luke Perry in the first season. Too much Brandon.
  • I forgot how preachy this show is. Every episode is "Very Special." Sheesh
  • No hermaphrodite serial killers, witches, or fat kids who talk only in thought bubbles.
Verdict: I'll still watch it when I am sewing in the evening, but it is not freaking crazy enough to replace my love, Passions.

Any suggestions? I am open to anything...

May Day

I felt like May's girl was especially appropriate because we have been having 50 MPH winds, wihch means that we have dust epoxied to our teeth at all times. It would be MUCH more pleasant if we just were standing over a coy little vent.
***************************************************************************************

And speaking of coy, on Passions Vincent/Valerie the he/she serial killer is almost ready to give birth to his/her father's baby! Who-rethra? Urethra, I say!

***************************************************************************************
Also, I found my wedding ring. This was especially gratifying because
1. I am married
2. It is, approximately, 300 carats.
3. While I am a contender for the island, I want EP to know I am already taken.

Where did I find it? In the jewelry dish by the sink. Where I ALWAYS keep it. Where I had searched EVERY day for three weeks.
*************************************************************************************
Finally, I give you:

"One, eight, senin wingpops!"
She keeps them in the fridge and licks them once a day.

Weekly Update

I have now taken a 1-4 pm siesta every day this week. It kicks some serious hambone. I highly recommend it.
**********************************************************************************
This week, while driving, I realized that I had listened to almost an entire Bryan Adams song without knowing it. I felt violated. And kind of old.
**********************************************************************************
Jooj will only allow me to brush her teeth if I call her Princess. Then she extends a hand and curtsies. And blows one kiss.
**********************************************************************************
I have six tomatoes and four strawberries growing in my garden already. No squash yet.

Meh, whatever

My favorite baker has been writing about things she likes (soup, talking about soup) and dislikes (not having soup) which led to some introspection on my part: I just don't care about most things.

So here is a sampler--and it is even (possibly) grammatically correct!

Things In Which I am Not Invested
  1. American Idol. Don't care. Doesn't matter to me.
  2. Saving the Earth. Ambivalent.
  3. Celebrity Babies. I have even tried to get involved. Still don't care.
  4. Teaching the Primary kids songs. Sadly, it is my calling. Sadly, they haven't noticed I don't really care.
  5. Planning and executing activities for the ward. Sadly, it is my calling. Sadly, they haven't noticed I don't really care.
  6. Poetry. I just don't care. Splash.
  7. Getting pregnant. Or adopting another baby. I am fine either way. Or neither way. Meh.
  8. Teaching Jooj the alphabet. She is learning it from TV. Fine by me
  9. Hollister/Gap/Banana/Abercrombie/etc. Whatever.
  10. Having a tenth item. This can count. Or not.
What don't you give a rat's about? (And the apostrophe is there because "bunsies" is implied.)

Stuff and Nonsense

With W gone all of the freaking time, and Jooj being the two-year old she is, I have been staying up later and later at night tooling around on the interweb. Here are some things I like:

Woot
I used to woot all of the time, and I forgot how much fun it is. Essentially, they sell one item a day, until it is gone. Sometimes it is awesome, sometimes it sucks. But it is kind of fun to see. To add on to woot is my new obsession, Shirt.Woot. They have a contest for shirt design, a bunch of nerds and graphic designers and graphic designer nerds submit their entries. Then we get to vote on them. The winning entries get shirts made with the designs on them, and I can buy them for $10. So far, W is getting this one any day now. But don't tell him--it is a surprise.

Games
I love computer games. I don't like the kind with platforms and jumping and grabbing coins and vines and things--they make me anxious. I do like games that are completely mindless. I get my games from Big Fish Games--they have new ones every day, so there is no reason for me to ever do any late night cleaning.
Currently I am enjoying
The 80's Game with Martha Quinn
SafeCracker
Lottso Deluxe
any hidden object games--I like the goofy mysteries.
W is also bringing Zelda home. That will rule.

Etsy
I love looking at everything that people can make. And I am almost to the point where I am at peace with the fact that I cannot make any of those things. I really really like looking at this site, lately, and pretending my house is cool like dat.

What do you do when you can't face reality any longer?

What have I been up to?

Oh, so much. So very, very much.

1. Watching Passions
So much has been happening--you really should be watching. Whitney caught Chad making it with a dude, the he/she blackmailer is trying to send Jessica to prison for the murders Spike committed, and Endora is getting judged by the witches council to see if she is a good or a bad witch. And that was just in yesterday's episode.
2. Making Smoomies (Mas Smoomies! Bees!)
Jooj's favorite recipe: 1/4 c kefir, 1 c rice milk, a crapload of berries, a banana, and chocolate syrup
3. Being irritated by Entertainment Weekly
An entire issue about the past season of American Idol? What is the deal? My whole week is blown.
4. Reading to the Jooj
Her newest favorite is "I can fly" because we get to Moo like a cow for a long time.
5. Making kissy faces at my birthday present
Thus far I have made a Pavlova and three loaves of bread
6. Hatching plans to set one of our missionaries up with Amy's sister so he will be in our family
Is that wrong?

Are you jealous, yet?
