So, in an attempt to fill the void (see the sidebar), I am vetting afternoon guilty pleasures.
Today's candidate: First Season 90210
Pros:
- Twice a day
- Awesome Brenda nonsense
- Tori Spelling pre-Lifetime
- Joe E Tata. Just say it. It will make you happy.
- Amazingly Awful.
- David (AKA DJ MC Cracker) isn't rapping too much in the first season.
- Seriously, this show is AWFUL.
- The realization that the parents on the show look REALLY young. Which means I must be getting old.
- Not enough Luke Perry in the first season. Too much Brandon.
- I forgot how preachy this show is. Every episode is "Very Special." Sheesh
- No hermaphrodite serial killers, witches, or fat kids who talk only in thought bubbles.
Any suggestions? I am open to anything...

I'm not the one to ask. But I just dropped by to say hi. And this doesn't have anything to do with anything, but Hellboy II was so not as funny as Hellboy I. And I forgot how much I don't love the dollar theater. (Well, except for the price and being able to watch movies practically by yourself. I bet I could watch movies for the rest of my life in the dollar theater for cheaper than it would cost to build a home theater.)
I'm just saying, there is something to be said for any random episode of Charmed. It's like 90210 (especially the early ones with Shannon Doherty), but with magic and nonsense. And if you get past the Shannon Doherty episodes, you get Alyssa Milano.
Dalene, I am amazed that you watched Hellboy at all. You are full of surprises!
W--I love you, and I love that you love Alyssa Milano. Charmed is too GOOD to replace Passions. There is too much legitimacy about it.
90210 is so my generation. (that & saved by the bell, blushingly) I was a definite fan. At the beginning of the year, in a TV slump, I started to Tivo old episodes, and it was then I realized I was really desperate for some decent TV.
Twice. Two nights in a row. I discovered after Wolverine I have a thing for comic book heroes with an attitude.
I like Charmed too, but you're right it's too good.
Want more surprises? I used to watch V.I.P, too. I like campy sometimes.
I LOVED VIP. I even had the Nintendo game.
And Anne-Marie, it is really, really, crappily awesome. Don't be ashamed. Give in to the 90210.
