This is the hardest part of the deployment--about two weeks until they come home. Because it is only two weeks. And I can survive just about everything for two weeks, right? But because two weeks is just such a short amount of time, my heart betrays my brain and I start not being able to handle anything. Stupid two weeks.
Plus there is a 300% chance that the date will be pushed back, just for kicks.
Funny story:
On W's first major deployment they kept pushing his date to come home, and he ended up staying an extra month. Every few days he would call and say he was coming home in a few days. Then, the day before his arrival, he would call and say it would be in another few days. This went on for a full month. At some point, I may have called his General and left a furious, tearful message that may have included a curse word. Sources are cloudy on that part. He came home pretty quick after that. I don't know if the two are related.
Anyway I am just letting you know that the posts for the next few weeks may be a little emotional. And there may be cursing. Hope that, like the General, you can forgive me. I am just a civilian, after all.

So Close to the End...

LONG Week.
It has been a long, long week. One of those that made it seem like this next six months will never end. But we got through it. And we did really well. I even pulled some good mothering out of the sky and used it on Jooj. (She didn't know what hit her!)
We made some Jack-O-Lanterns. Jooj was in charge of making the crucial face-shape decisions.
(We were supposed to make a sign that said "Hi, Grandma Jenny!" But we forgot. Sorry.)
We also made some paper-chain ghosts. (Holy Ghostesses, as Jooj calls them...) She even made the faces.
She threw a fit when I wouldn't leave her behind in the kennel while I went to the grocery store
She climbed all the way to the top of the stairs. In the Nude.
It was Fall for approximately one day. We excitedly wore a sweater. Now it is Summer again.
We did a lot of water coloring. In the Nude.
Only 22 more weeks of this to go.

The Problem With Deployments
Dearest W,
I love you so, so much.
But the longer that you are gone, the more I realize that I am starting (let's be honest, here,), NAY, Continuing to fall in love with another.
Thanks for the memories,
Your La Yen

Dear Doctor,
Please come pick me up in the Tardis. I know that, technically, you are David Tennant, but the line between reality and fiction is much like you, yourself, explained the lines of time: Wibbly Wobbly. I'll leave the kid behind. Maybe with an alien Nanny.
All my love,
La Yen
