Andale, Hermano Breegang, Andale

So I am the Activities Committee for our ward.

Luckily, I belong to a stake that does not want the wards to do anything at all, so they have some sort of activity for every occasion. And you KNOW how I love to not have to expend any effort.

So I was given our assignment for the Stake Pioneer Day picnic, which is to bring the traditional Pioneer fare...

Nachos.

Seriously.

Keep in mind that for th 4th of July Boy Scout Pancake Breakfast they only served Menudo.

The Boy Scout Cow Gut Soup Breakfast Honoring the WASPY Founding of America.

So I have decided to bring the Pioneer Spirit to honoring my ancestors with Nachos. I am going to name each topping with an appropriate Pioneer name. This is what I have so far.

Buffalo Chips
Flaming Oxcart Salsa
Heber C Queso
Mormon Battalapenos
Walked and Walked and Walk-amole

Can you think of any others?

You should have something making reference to Pancho Villa, and to polygamous Mormon colonies.

Dad-is-in-jail-for-having-too-many-wives-sour-cream?

By the way, that cake was unreal!

Sloppy Jose Smiths.

Heber C. Queso is my favorite.

And now I'm left wondering. Can you top Nachos with cream of mushroom soup?

The dubai ward choir (what's left of us) is singing primary songs for our pioneer day celebration, and they're having a pot luck lunch also. Philipinos don't eat menudo, but I'm sure there will be something similar! but no-one has ever done something for Pioneer Day, so it's a step in the right direction!
BTW, the sloppy jose smiths get my vote to add to the ones you already have!

Hilarious! I liked them all and I was trying to come up with something clever to say about sour cream, but alas...it hasn't come to me yet.
Once upon a time I lived in West Texas..what do you think we ate at our ward Christmas party? Ham or Roast or Turkey? No way. We feasted on tamales that the Mexican sisters spent the day trying to teach the non-Mexican sisters to make. North Mexico...so true.

How about a Nebraska reference. . .a Winter Quarters Quart of Sour cream on the side??

This is me reporting that I got my order from Penzey's today and there were no free samples.

So sad. Now, what do I do with Rocky Mountain seasoning (I'm assuming I don't just put them on Rocky Mountain oysters) and Sandwich Sprinkle? (I think I can figure out the Apple Pie Spice all on my own.)

I just ran across you're blog through the blogging unions that abound in plenty these days, and had a hardy laugh! I too was assigned nachos at the same stake event and found it to be hilarious fare for the Pioneer festivities as well (as well as the hot dogs & mexican popcicle thingys). I just moved to El Paso this year & our nachos went horribly awry as i was not aware that the cheese needed heating.
