What's a Girl to Do?

We (me and Jooj ) have been having a rough time of it, lately.
The family is down to one car, and with W leaving us in December, I don't see the point in purchasing an extra set of wheels only to have them rot for fifteen months. Normally Jooj and I don't leave the house much, so it is not a big deal. Normally we play around, watch tv, sit in the "Cool" which is Jooj-speak for the kiddie pool we bought, and go on walks to the park a few blocks away.
But normally it is not 103 degrees with 65 % humidity, which renders the swamp cooler unusable.
And normally W comes home by 7 pm to help us out. But he has not been here before ten in weeks. Last night was midnight. There were some 3 AMs a while back (could have been last week, can't keep track of days anymore), and an all-day Saturday affair.
The result of this is that Mami is exhausted all of the time, and Jooj is absolutely stir-crazy because we don't leave the house. (Which at 95 degrees is cooler than the outside, still.)
My solution today has been to make some brownies (early in the morning so it wasn't contributing to the heat) Jooj's solution today is to hit the dog with a device she made out of a string and a block.
Any other ideas?

Come to Provo for a few weeks? It's hot, but not that hot. And it's dry, dry, dry.

Which I guess is only relevant if you have a swamp cooler.

If I could, I'd send you an airline ticket and get you the H out of Hell Paso.

If I didn't know where you lived I'd say to walk around your neighborhood to some stores, but what are you going to do, walk down to the sev? By the time you got there Jooj would be like a little BBQ chicken.

My other solution is to have W pick up bags of ice on his way home. Let Jooj throw the ice at the dirt tomorrow. That should burn like, 20 minutes at least.

Can you get one of those cat tree/cat condo things for her? You know, an indoor jungle gym covered in old scraps of carpet?
Just thinking outside of the box here.

Um .. can you become nocturnal? I mean, if no one's home during the day, and you're not going out, who says you have to be awake for all that climatological misery?

Other than that -- my only other suggestion would be to invest ASAP in a $20 snowcone maker/ice shaver thingy from Mal-Wort. Who doesn't like a snow cone? And the syrups come sugar-free if you're concerned about jazzing her up even more.

It's totally obvious I don't have kids - isn't it? LOL ;) Well, at any rate, my sympathy is with you, and my door is always open!

Sounds like time for a Buffy marathon. If you come out to NY you and Jooj can enjoy our central air and watch buffy all day long.

I was going to suggest YouTube... but then what would Jooj do... looks like Provo is your best bet... UNLESS... you want to visit Calif? ;-)

I wish there was a veteran's kiddie pool play area where I am...

...every time I glance at your sidebar and see "scrumpmasters" I think Krumping... maybe you could get the jooj to krump? I'm going to check out that link too.

I know what you mean about the heat and humidity---105 in the late morning and like a sauna! My solution is that I wake up very early and go outside for a walk with the dogs. It's bearable at 6:30 am. (would that work with Gigi??) We are blessed to have good air conditioning, which is a good thing, because otherwise we couldn't live here!Anyway, it's 10:15 and I'm just about ready for a nap! My great is consolation is that in just 18 more days we go on vacation and leave for a month!
Love you Jen, hang in there--and if your hands get too sweaty, sit in there!

What is up with the 15 months? Is Waldo LEAVING in December and won't be back for 15 months? Um, that's longer than a year. WTF would keep you in Hell Paso for over a year without your man? All signs DO point to Provo.
