Mockingbird

Bedtimes are the most difficult time of the entire day.  Lately Jooj has really been struggling with anxiety and testing every single boundary--and every night it comes to a head at about 6 pm.  I am pretty sure our neighbors have considered reporting us, what with the screaming and the yelling and the "DON'T HURT ME!!!" (We are not hurting her, by the way).  Usually she goes to sleep in my bed after hours of fighting.  Last night she declared (in between giant fits) that she wanted to sing herself a lullaby.  So she did:

Hush little Jooj don't say a word
Papi's gonna buy you a mockingbird.
And if that mockingbird won't mock
Papi's gonna buy you a light-up ring.
And if that light-up ring won't light
Papi's gonna buy you a goat.
And if that goat won't....goat
You can throw it out the window.

And then we laughed.  And then she started screaming for another hour.  And then she passed out.

Ugh. Bedtime sucks.
But I thought you'd enjoy this version that my friend made up... Maybe it'll help jooj sleep.
