we are not too exciting for New Years. It usually involves lil' smokies, some cream cheese and sausage stuffed mushrooms and maybe a cheeseball.
Woo woo!
We always did the smokies too. WHY? Seriously--WHY?
And The La-Ins make us eat 12 grapes at midnight (or 9:30 when I am sick of New Year's Eve).
I have heard of a sundae bar. Sounds intriguing...
I've heard of celebrating New Years in a different time zone. So say you pick Japan, our midnight is like 10am. Do the countdown, Martinellis stuff then, and sleep when it goes down in your own time zone. I want to try it one year.
We eat toshi koshi soba. Soba noodles with hot, as in temperature, broth. We usually eat it with Tempura. The next day is filled with pickled stuff, and mochi including my beloved ohagi. When I was pregnant with Edamame New years food was the only stuff I could eat without wanting to spew.
Chinese food and chocolate fondue
Glittersmama... I'm coming over! ;-)
I think we're doing Chinese hot pot this year...
I LOVE CHEESE BALLS....but I don't get them because no one else eats them in my house... ;-)
I'm so doing a choc fondue this year too(thanks to glittersmama)... hot pot is basically fondue... but with soup ...fish, veggies, noodles... meat... it's TASTY!
We always do cheese and chocolate fondue on Christmas Eve but it fits for new years as well. It's fun to do but not really one of those regular rotation meals :-) We used to get made fun of back when we started inviting people over for fondue parties back when I was first married but people always ended up sheepishly asking for recipes and tips on parties of their own. It's fun and kids will eat anything as long as it is off a stick.
Have fun! I'm babysitting so I know I will... :-)
I have a killer artichoke dip. My kids like 7-layer dip. But fondue sounds even better.
i'm making the pioneer woman's stuffed button mushrooms... simple, and delish... hopefully.
We do Asian food. Any kind. But I'm loving the chocolate fondue idea for next year...
Thanks for your kind comments on my blog. You don't know how much I appreciate it.
Obviously too late... but we watch all the re-runs leading up to the crowning of the Next Food Network Star. This year's winner was Melissa D'Arabian, a stay-at-home mom of four. It was GREAT!
