Celebrating the Time and all Eternity

If I squint very hard, it looks a little like Utah

My very first experience with adoption was from a childhood friend, Lori. She and her brother had been adopted, and she was very open about it.

Poopin' in the Punkin Patch

As a Merry Miss I remember feeling prompted that I would adopt my children, each time that we would talk about it.

Of all the things I remember about our talks, I remember the conversations about "A Day" the most. On the anniversary of her adoption her parents would take her out for a special day, often to Disneyland, because we were in Fullerton. She said that she had two days--an A Day and a B Day. Isn't it funny how things stick on your head for 19 years?

So today we celebrated our very first A day: no Disneyland, but we did go to a Pumpkin Patch where we took a hayride and fed some goats.

And the whole day I was very close to tears because I remember our day in the temple, my despair at being childless, and the way Heavenly Father looks out for us, here, now, and in the eternities. And I remembered Lori all day.

Thanks for sharing these beautiful thoughts. As a mama of 3 adopted children, I so appreciate your ability to put into words the intense feelings this miracle brings.

What a beautiful family!! We just had Jacob's "bring him home" day and I had some similar thoughts.... With my adopted kids I have many special days..the day we found out, the day we brought them home, the day we were sealed...it is a party all year long!!

Awesome! I think what bek said is key: you have SO many days to celebrate!

Yay, A-day!!!!!!!!! Wish we could've been there to celebrate with you! (or YOU out HERE :( !!!) You make my heart hurt from being full of love when I think about your sweet little family gathered 'round the alter in the Provo temple to be sealed for time and all eternity.

P.S. i was thinking the same thing as ~j. about that last pic. Was she hanging off the side?

P.P.S. Are you reading Tale of Two Cities right now?? I just re-read it in August!! One of my faves!!!!!!!! We've gotta coordinate our reading next time!! What's your next classic lined up?? I'm sorta in the mood for Jane Austen.

Sorry to disappoint, but Jooj is no Ansel Adams Savant. My cousin moved here and accompanied us as a photographer.

And Ames, I am reading it, and I am carefully pondering the next month's choice. Maybe the Golden Bowl or the Age of Innocence. I can;t read Austen until the springtime. She just isn't a fall novelist, for me.

Great pictures! What a neat experience. And it's nice to put a real face to your name. I have a hard time picturing you as anything other than the blond linked to your blog profile.
