Easter Week: Optimistically Prepared.

Jooj just turned seven. SEVEN. Which means that I have less than a year to prepare her for baptism. (Which means I need to actually teach her, as opposed to Family Ties* and Selena Gomez, her current favorite professors.) And what better time to start reinforcing the gospel than Easter?**

Our Easter Week plan***

Monday: For Family Home Evening we are going to read our "Kids' First Easter" book if I can find it in the black hole that is Jooj's room. And decorate eggs****. To get that out of the way. Also so I can eat egg salad. If I get to the store today, we will have those "Resurrection Rolls*****" for dessert.

Tuesday: The Atonement. We are going to totally copy this idea from We Talk of Christ.

Wednesday: The last supper. She needs to work on her money-counting skills so we will probably talk about how much Judas traded Jesus for. And if it was a good deal.

Thursday: I think we will talk a lottle more about the crucifiction and maybe make this craft. She likes crafts and I like keeping her hands busy.

Friday: W and I have to go to the Army Prom at night, so during the day (which Jooj has off of school for Good Friday even though we don't get things like Memorial Day off) we will go to the park with the giant rocks and have her try to push them, and remind her how the angel rolled the stone away. Then we will let them play themselves silly so they will go to bed for the sitter.

Saturday: the EB comes to our house the day before Easter to deliver treats. I think this year he will leave her a note that tells her how much he loves Jesus and how grateful he is for the sacrifice. Then we will eat candy and crack those doggone cascarones that I hate******.

Sunday we will hunt for eggs again, but these will be the ones with the Symbols of Easter inside. Then we will read the scriptures and have a Very Reverent Six Hours Before Church Starts. Right.

* She LOVES that Alex P Keaton. And Mallory.
**Probably three years ago would have been a better time.
***I can guarantee at least two of these will happen.
****My tip for you: Nude children while dyeing eggs.
*****Make sure you check them before you present them to the kids so "Jesus" isn't oozing our of the tomb. Not the message you want to send. OR IS IT?
******We crack them at the park. Because I hate them near my floors.
