Happy Birthday, Shot@Life!

Let's talk about vaccinations for a minute.  Did you know that my boys both get reasonably sick after they get vaccinated?  And that I do, as well?  It is no fun.  We get flu-like symptoms for a day, fevers, and have trouble sleeping.  But do you know what we don't get?  POLIO.  Or PERTUSSIS.  Or DEATH FROM ROTOVIRUS.  Hooray for vaccinations!

Shot@Life is an amazing organization that strives to make sure that every child has access to vaccinations, so that we can no longer have to hear stories about kids who die from preventable illnesses.  In the past year they have worked tirelessly with advocates from all over to promote vaccination legislation, raise donations, and spread awareness.  All of this means that more children are reaching their first birthdays, and have a great chance to live the life they were made to live!

In honor of Shot @ Life's first birthday, I wanted to introduce you to a Shot@Life Champion--a great woman who has worked hard this year to promote this amazing cause.  Meet Kathy Dalton, from Adventure Mom

I was asked to briefly interview her about her work with Shot @ Life, and tell you about the things she has witnessed this year.  Enjoy!

1.  How did you get involved with Shot @ Life?
I got involved with Shot@Life from the EVO Conference and helped to do our local Giving Tuesday event.

2.  What has being a Champion meant for you this year?
It has been an opportunity to serve and advocate on behalf of Shot at Life. It was a really incredible experience to got to DC and get trained to be a Shot at Life Champion and to met with members of congress on Capitol Hill. It was so impressive to see how our government works and how they really care about what we are doing as mothers and bloggers.

3.  How has being a Champion affected you in your mothering?
Being a Shot at Life champion has reminded me that every child deserves a shot at Life.

4.  Does your family have any fun birthday traditions?
We have a lot of fun family traditions at our house, but one of my favorite is eating breakfast together. I love french toast with strawberries or Danish Pancakes.

5.  What would you wish for if you blew out the candles on Shot @ Life's birthday cake?
My wish would be for other moms and bloggers to join us and donate to the Shot at Life fund.

6.  What would be a great birthday gift for Shot @ Life?
A great gift would be for more people to join us!
