So we are having some, how you say, issues with our city to the South.
Six decapitations amid wave of violence in Mexico
And all of this nonsense
Homicides up 47% in 2008
Did you catch this part? And yes, they are making good on the promise.
The hardest part for me, other than being afraid of getting shot for absolutely no reason, is that our closest temple is the Juarez temple. It is not too far--about 25 minutes. There was a minor kerfuffle in church today when two women got into an argument over temple attendance. One insisted that we should all go and have faith that we would be safe, and the other said "Are you kidding me?" I am leaning toward the latter. Because I can't afford to get shot today. No matter how much faith I may or may not have.
Lest you fear that we have lost all sense of perspective, I did drive past a sign which informed me that I could put a pinata on layaway. And that is something no drug kingpins can ever take from us.

You are funny.
But don't get shot.
My goodness, pinatas are like a buck ninety five here! What are they filled with down S O the B?
I'm with you on the "Are you kidding me?" side.
And is that a refundable deposit on the pinata or non-refundable. Because that makes all the difference.
p.s. We have a temple in Provo. Come on over and I'll babysit the Jooj.
Would you say you have a plethora of pinatas?
Criminey!
You did NOT just say kerfuffle! Love that :)
But seriously - just like people on tv say when they don't want to do anything to help someone - The Good Lord helps those who help themselves. And I, for one, am in the boat that says help yourself by not getting decapitated!
Maybe the preachy chick at church could help everyone demonstrate their faith by organizing an impromptu group temple trip to a more distant temple (the faith promoting device being finding babysitters and suffering a longer road trip (with the preachy chick, I'm sure), not risking death and dismemberment). Just a thought :)
BTW, what exactly is the down payment for a pinata these days?
I think that they must just be REALLY big pinatas.
We've been reading about the crime wave out there in Juarez. Really scarey & I don't blame you one bit for the non-temple attendance there. We went to Juarez once & I couldn't get out fast enough. (if it weren't for that damned immigration line-sheesh!)
