Have you ever heard a barfly on the Blue Corn Moon?

So, I have been humbled to the lowest, my friends.

Apparently, I don't know the correct words to "We are all Enlisted."

I did not know this until I was singing it loudly at church and realized that I was not singing the correct words.

I admit knowing, at one time, that I made up the words, but it was pra-lly 10 years ago, and I have forgotten that I made them up.

We are all enlisted till the Conflict is Or
Hap--Pee are we, Hap-Pee are we
Children of the promise there's a bright crown in store
We shall grin and bear it by-the-by.

Truth is out helmet, buckler and shield
We like the truth when truth is re-vealed
We are so happy to be pioneers
We're
Joyfully
Joyfully
Marching to and Fro-O

I have not been so embarrased since my brother sang "Excuse me while I Kiss This Guy" really loudly in a car with my friends. Or that time last week when W let me go ALL DAY with my XYZPDQ. When he KNOWS that is his only job!

I like my version better--it has heart.

Heart, I say, Heart!

We sang that song every week in YW when I was a lad.

Every

Week.

(250 in the green hymnal, 210 in the old brown one.)

I do this with How Gentle God's Commands and High on a Mountain Top. I must read the words while singing either of those, less I make a fool of myself.

"High on a mountain top

Ye nations now look up
and see him chase the squirel.

In deseret
Sweet Deseret
In Deser-e-et
He chased a squirrel."

Like that, Stars Hollow? 'Cause I dooze it Large.

I chose 'lad' rather than 'gal'.

My brother does this with a certain hymn...

Families can be together forever
through Heav'nly Father's plan
I always want to be
With my own famileeeee...

We wish to welcome you to Munchkinland!

Jen...you are fabulous.........

I have the unfortunate duty of knowing every single word...and not just the words, but what they MEAN so I could translate it into sigh. Idioms are not the same in ASL. SO if we sing "children of the promise there is a bright crown in store" we don't actually sign that a child will get a crown, we switch it to something like "children of god will achieve eternal salvation........." I did expose all my wrong versions during this time though. I can't remember any of them.....

Singing AND thinking.......bleh.

Would it be wrong of me to scribble some corrections into our hymn book at church? Your version really DOES have more heart.

Did I mention that I like to repeat myself?

Stars Hollow does it like this:

High on a mountain top
A badger chased a squirrel
The badger ate him up and
Now there is no squirrel.

In des-er-et
The badgers are lean
And all the squirrels
Are far between.

See, in the EP, we don't actually need the hymn to make sense. You East-Coasters are all logical and tell a story of praise and worship with your hymns. We just like squirrels.
